The collection consists of papers of Cary B. Wilmer from 1936-1979. The papers consist of finished photographs; slides; negatives; and miscellaneous items of correspondence, including a number of letters to Wilmer from Margaret Mitchell (1936-1943). The collection also includes clippings, printed material, and memorabilia. The photographs, which comprise the bulk of the collection, record social life, civic events and people in Atlanta, Georgia, from ca. 1956-1976, including GONE WITH THE WIND celebrations (1939, 1961, 1967); Atlanta landmarks and skyline; The Ten Club; and Metropolitan Opera parties (ca. 1956-1976).

Margaret Mitchell (b. November 8, 1900, Atlanta, Georgia-d. August 16, 1949, Atlanta, Georgia), the daughter of Eugene M. Mitchell, was a prominent attorney.
